My newest and most gigantic replica project EVER was loaded off a trailer tonight and into my driveway...

As if I didn't have enough prop projects on my plate already.  More pictures will come in the morning when the sun is out.  All I can say is...

GROOVY!

More pics...

And yes, it is the "classic".  Or will be.  Once I start on the modifications.  Mainly the green paint job and a few other things.

Most exciting!

Got some updates:

Finally had some time this weekend to really work on the car.  The car hasn't been touched since rolling off the trailer.  So I got the car on some ramps, popped the hood, and gave the car a good sweeping.  After several hours, I have checked the car from front to back and have made a checklist of "things to do" and "things that have been done".

Here is what I found.

The Bad:

needs a new paint job
needs a new vinyl top
needs a new timing chain
needs a new gasket for rear axle (leaking oil)
needs a new power steering hose (leaking fluid)
needs new weatherstripping all around (doors, hood, trunk, etc.)
needs a new parking light (blub out)
small crack in windshield (needs to be filled)
needs new sparkplugs

The Good:

Has new brakes, springs, pads, shoes, master cylinder, drums, etc
New alternator
Rebuilt wiperarm and washer motor
New tirescut
Car is 98% rust free (very clean)
Headliner is perfect
Seats are perfect
Interior is perfect (for it’s age)
Rebuilt transmission
New radiator
Car had a recent oil change and tune up
Doesn’t use oil (blow blue smoke)
Chrome is perfect (no pitting, rust, etc.)
Trim is all there

So I got my work got out for me, but the car had undergone repairs prior to my purchase of the car.  The car was purchased in Colorado and hauled to Kentucky.  Currently I’ve got about $1500 in it right now (including shipping)and I’m estimating that another 3k will get this car into showroom condition.  If I can play my cards right, I can have most of the repairs done before halloween.

*Crosses fingers*

New updates...

Car is at the shop getting a new vinyl top.

I'm told that the turn around for the top will be next wednesday...if all goes okay.

Here is the sorry state of the top as is...

I bought some more spare parts for the car.  Some body pieces and a new set of hubcaps.  Until next update...

EDIT:

New top is sexy.

car should be done tomorrow...

Update:

FINSHED!!

I entered my first ever Car Show today, took home 2nd place in the "custom classic" catagory.

The car show raised over $100 dollars for "relay for life".  There were about 15-20 cars there.

Here you can see the new tint job.  It gives the car an eerie sinister look to it, especially at night.

total groovy-ness.
