Need help with IDVD/Quicktime burning process with Final Cut project

So heres my situation:
I have 2 projects that I filmed for local schools for community service activities. I need to put them onto a DVD. I used Final Cut to edit both pieces. One is about 40 minutes long and the other is about an hour long. I used export to quicktime movie, which still leaves it as only being able to open it in Final Cut. I used that to export using Quicktime Converter and then put the Quicktime file on DVD using iDVD. I've done it in the past with shorter pieces and they've come out fine. When I did it this time they appeared very pixelated whenever movement happens. The book I was trying to use was only talking about converting files for internet use, not DVD. I'm a bit lost on why this is happening. Any suggestions?

Export from FCP/FCE using the H.264 compression tool
Open DVD authoring software
Drag and drop your files onto your media area
Link text and/or picture from DVD menu to referenced media
Export DVD
