I thought you said you didn't have much time to work on it? I'm only about a third through FVG. Smiley

Hey, here I am after 4 months of silence. I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm not doing the subtitles anymore. After reading an e-mail from biscoito, I had to come here and post some sort of reply even though I really didn't want to.

Two reasons for this. The first being obvious, you just need to read this thread and notice when I stopped replying. The second is because there are already portuguese subtitles for this movie on the internet, I found out shortly after sending an e-mail to braxtan letting he know that I would do it without the script. But after mentioning the event to some of my friends they basicaly told me I shouldn't do it. And I don't blame them.

I really hope the RotG crew is succesful in any future projects they have but I kinda gave up on doing something that wouldn't have any positive response after its completition. I'm glad that someone took the reins on this (for the joy of those in need of better subtitles or dubbing as noted previously). Right now I'm busy with projects of my own as someone suggested it would be the best thing for me to do.

Good luck all.

the translation credits goes to someone with the screen name  JRARIOSA

about the translation, well, I would probably have translated differently

for instance:
Ed Spengler, nephew of ghostbusting great Egon Spengler

gets translated as Ed Spengler nephew of a ghostbuster. Ygor Spengler group leader

Neil Anderson ladies man, and self proclaimed bad ass
becomes Neil Anderson ladies man, and obviously has a complicated head

out of job ? are you crazy man ?as long as people keep dying there will always be ghosts
becomes I have a job. are you crazy dude ? except if you die, there will always be ghosts

LMAO!

I'm guessing most of the people involved with this project have a "complicated head". Cheesy

More than half done with FVG.

Done with english for FvG except for 2 questions:

03:40 "Look, I've --- enough of this crap! I'm going to Quiznos" (even though it doesn't sound like it I'll just put 'had' if nobody has any input)

24:40 after Ed says:"I’ve an idea. We’ll cross the streams" it sounds like Neil says something. (if there's no suggestions I'll just forget about it)

I just want to say that having the FvG script was very helpful. Smiley

Jarred says, "I've just had enough of this crap, if no one else needs me I'm going to take a nap"

It wasn't the scene with Jared, It's the lady who was annoyed with Nancy. But I've put 'had' in anyways.

It was really weird. I'm listening to her and it sounded like "I've run enough of this crap" and I'm thinking it should be 'had', so I listen to it over and over wanting her to say 'had'. I even had my wife listen to it and it sounded like 'run' to her to and I didn't even tell her what I heard. Now that I've put 'had' in the subtitles, I hear 'had'. Some people think you hear with your ears, but your mind is actually the most important hearing organ. Smiley

No...
I'm pretty sure that if you don't have ears, you can't hear.

Obviously I appreciate the well-wishes, but seriously, you have WAY over-reacted.  I have read and re-read the posts of "where you stopped posting" and I can't see any point that would have upset you to the point of thinking we were insulting.  I'm pretty sure all anybody said was, we don't have anything to give you, and we're not working on this film anymore.  But we appreciate the effort.

I don't get it.  And I'm certainly not someone to sling much mud on these boards, but any negative posts regarding your idea of subtitles are purely of your own fabrication.

By the way, I don't get it.

By the way, I don't get it.

It's all actually quite simple: It seems Salsa assumed you had the script in an easily accessible digital format (text, MSword, WordStar, etc.), which would be quite simple to email. But, if one carefully reads the following posts one can deduce that that may not be the case; stuff about spending time/money, pony express, sending "a" script. From all that one should assume that the script was only in hard copy form. Are you guys still using typewriters? Smiley

Anyway, this all could have been avoided if someone just said "hey, we don't have it in a file we can email you." IMHO Smiley

My two cents' worth-

I'm sure they had the script in an electronic form, but the script is likely different from what actually ended up in the movie. It's fairly common for lines to change & get dropped/added during the actual shoot, so a script given to someone would not have been a big help. The best thing would be for someone to watch the movie and transcribe each line so the subtitles are correct.
