Nah, the Ghostbusters name is trademarked.  The competing franchise would have to be Specter Hunters, or Ghost Catchers, or the Paranormal Depot.

You have to be careful with a storyline like this though--it could be difficult to pull off.  If not done right, it could really come off as a made for Nickelodeon movie, or an after school special.

Not necessarily.  In GBG, for example, The new Ghostbusters sign an equality ownership agreement when the originals sell the rights so when Lee Adams (the mouth of the group) leaves to start his own franchise (due to his ego)in GBG2, he is legally able to use the name due to a loop hole created in the contract established in GBG.

The treatment of the film is, IMO, extremely well executed, clever, and entertaining (the actors of GBG were able to contribute).  The scale is even more tremendous than presented in GBG.   If I decided to do this film, based on reactions to GBG, I may want to get additional writers involved but I would love to tackle this concept as a final GB fan film (unless GBG isn't received well).

Sounds like there should have been yet another disclaimer at the beginning of the movie stating the requirements and stipulations for there to be a third installment, Hank!

there should most definatly not be a denver ghostbusters 3 and heres why. Return of the ghostbusters is amazing. it shows that no matter your budget, so long as you have a great crew and alot of ingenuity and passoin, amazing things are possible, another one i think would drag it out and the point would be lost. also its a fan film and if your interested in making movies as a career fan films are not the way to go usually, however in this case hank and the guys have proven how talented they are and i dont think will have a problem moving on to bigger things, and having the chance to make something original and even better. they just need to capitalise on this amazing success (which im willing to bet they already are). well done guys, the future looks bright for you.

If every time a movie had flaws that meant there should be a sequel, then every movie ever made would have endless sequels.

I'd love to do a Half Life film...with a 100 million dollar budget.

Half Life can only be done in a single cut. It has to be first person and Gordan can never speak! It could also be a sweet Universal Studios ride, like 2 hours to get all the way through!
