Shouldn't we perhaps just wait a while until ROTGB has built up some more popularity & publicity?  I mean, I agree that we should have a wiki article, but I think that constantly putting it right back up whenever it gets deleted is likely having a negative effect.  I think all we're accomplishing by doing that is pissing of the editors even more, thus making them even more likely to delete it once again, and thus the vicious cycle continues.  To be completely honest, I just don't think constantly putting it back up everytime it gets deleted is the most professional approach.  Just wait and let the film build up some more credibility.  In the meantime, let it be & don't worry about it; doing the whole constant re-update thing is only going to make it less and less likely that the wiki will ever stay up, even after the film has gained more popularity.  Reason for that is because by then the wiki editors will already have made uo their minds that ROTGB is not going to have an article.  The thing of it is, while they may be childish in deleting it for no real reason, responding in that manner is also rather childish (I mean no offense to anyone, I just don't want to see the chances ruined by an unprofessional approach).

*It's interesting to note that their whole argument is that it's simply "not noteable," and the wiki rules of deletion state that saying "it's not noteable" is not suppossed to be a good enough reason by itself.  For example, in one of the deletion nomination pages, someone who was trying to argue on behalf of ROTGB pointed out that the movie should have an article because of the fact that SW fan film articles always stay up, and then one of the pro-deletion guys pointed out that "article X should be allowed because of article Y" is not a valid argument according to the wiki rules.  But then you read the main argument at the top (and all the following arguments), and it's nothing more than "it's not noteable," which is also against the rules.  Hypocrites.

I completely agree with you.  Nobody said anything about posting it again right away--I just wanted to save the version that was already done.

I think we should wait a couple months at a minimum, to make sure it meets wikipedia's notability standards.  In the meantime, I think FvGB has already met those standards, and by having an entry for that film, it will make it easier for the ROTGB page to stick in the future.

Oh, I guess from what I read earlier on, it seemed that people were trying to simply keep putting it right back up everytime.  No one is trying to do that right now, are they?  I think we just want to make sure that no one (however well-intentioned) tries that approach.

The bright side to this is that it gives us plenty of time to tweak the article to perfection.

Yeah, that's cool.

Anyway, note to everyone else:

Please do not try to repost the ROTGB wikipedia when they delete it. We need to wait a couple months and see if it is even popular enough to have a wiki article!

Until it's actually deleted, i'm not totally giving up on the thing. :p

I added a new section for the new technology used in the film. Anyone else feel free to add/correct anything on there.

Until then, I think someone should submit an entry to imdb.com.

I actually suggested that to Hank in PM but he doesn't want to do it yet until it become more popular.

Ah.

Well, in that case, I'll just post a release thread for ROTGB in the imdb.com message board for FVGB for now(can you believe no one thought to do that yet?).

Hey!

I edited the wikki page "Ghostbusters (franchise)" and at the very bottom under "Cultural impact" i added the section "Fan Films".

Quote
Fan Film

As of 2009 three major Fan Films have been made.

Freddy Vs. Ghostbusters

In 2004 the small production company Braxtanfilm made Freddy Vs. Ghostbusters. This 35 Minute Fan Film is a Fictional crossover between Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street and the Ghostbusters. This film does not feature any of the original Ghostbusters characters instead it focuses on Ghostbusters the Denver branch. It was directed by Hank Braxtan who is most recently been involved in directing the Film Adaptation of Brave New World (role-playing game). The film stars J. Michael Weiss, Tim Johnson, and Jason Cook as the Ghostbusters team. Bradley J. Roddy plays Freddy Kruger. It was made on the low buget of $500.00UDS This Fan Film scored 6.9 on imdb with 759 votes.

Return of the Ghostbusters

In 2007 Braxtanfilm made a Sequel to Freddy Vs. Ghostbusters but this time Freddy Krueger hade no role in the story. It was again directed by Hank Braxtan and stars two of the three Ghostbusters from Freddy Vs. Ghostbusters (J. Michael Weiss, Tim Johnson.) The third Ghostbuster is played by Joel Hanson and the main villain is played by Ron Vischer.

The Mile-High City is rocked when an ancient Egyptian menace comes to town, and the Denver Ghostbusters must return to save the universe once more.

A talented cast and crew made up entirely of volunteers worked over the internet and across borders for over two years. It was made on the budget of $3000.00UDS Featuring dazzling special effects, an original score, and an engaging story inhabited by quirky characters, this feature length film is a truly one of a kind fan made experience.

Recently Return of the Ghostbusters hit number 277 on imdb's star meter. This is the highest any fan film has ever reached.

Ghostbusters: Hellbent

In 2009 White Tiger Films made the full length Fan Film Ghostbusters: Hellbent. This movie adapts some of the concepts from Dan Aykroyd's Ghostbusters III script.

I didn't have much to say about Ghostbusters: hellbent but i added it anyway. Feel free to add to or change this in anyway. I think it may be time to re submit the ROTGB wikki page.
