(I checked the criteria for posting, I think my movie qualifies...) Wink

I'm just about done with my first feature, titled The Uninvited. When I say "almost", I mean the only thing left to do is finalize the end credits and make sure the sound is properly mixed. (All the shooting's been done for a while, the editing's also been done, the effects shots are done and the music composer just finished the score a few weeks ago.)

Synopsis? Don't want to give too much away, but a real short summary: Haunted house/demonic possession movie.

Run time is currently 117 minutes, but this is subject to change slightly after the end credits are slapped on.

It was shot on HDV with the JVC JY-HD10-U, and edited with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Okay, enough milk. On with the meat!

We've a website for the movie, but I have to be honest- it's fairly crappy, so until it gets a major overhaul I'm not going to waste time posting the link.

Also, the trailer is up: (Yes, I know the end tag says Halloween 2006, just ignore it- the movie has NOT been released yet!)

This is the high-quality version:

and of course, if the buffering takes too long, it's easily accessible on YouTube:

Thank you, Mr. Braxtan! Smiley (I  tend to use blue as a substitute for dark- it helps the audience see what's onscreen better.) Wink

This is my second attempt at a horror movie- the last one I did was back in 1994 and man, it was lame. (I like to think I've learned a little since then...) Wink

We usually had a crew of two doing all the work- sometimes that number went up to three, and sometimes it went down to one.

The best part of this film will be the actors; out of the dozen people onscreen, about 10 of them are professionals. (I even got to do an actual screening for each one- it was fun, seeing which ones would be most likely to fit the bill, so to speak.)

Only one has an IMDb profile so far, and that would be my lead actress Nicole Wiesner.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1197879/

(I'll be adding The Uninvited to IMDb once it's really finished.)

P.S. - Oh, and for the record, The Screen Actor's Guild sucks. (Not the actors in it, just the bureaucrats involved.)

Ha ha--I made a lame horror film back in 1994.  It was so bad I had to reshoot it in January 1995, but even that version (although a huge improvement) sucks ass--Don't go in the basement.

I can't believe more people don't post about your film.  Probably doesn't have enough Freddy/Jason/Ghostbusters/Darth Vader/Jello for these boards...

It's very hard to get people to check out something original.

Nuts, I knew I should have put some Jello in the movie somewhere! Dammit!
Wink

Actually, it's no sweat- I got the same reaction after posting info on an Indiana Jones fan film board. (Yeah, not my target audience, but I was a friggin' member on that board for about five years!)

I imagine it's the old double-edged sword of doing a fan film; you get the built-in audience, but you also can only take that film so far because of copyrights... (sigh)

Who knows, maybe in a few years there'll be fan films of The Uninvited!

(shudder) Wink

Hey, just for kicks, here's the trailer for my crapfest horror flick:

Thanks again for the compliments- here's another pic or two:

I'm very close to finishing, but had one small slipup- there is a "music video" early on in the movie in which the two leads are falling in love; the sequence also exists to show off some Chicago scenery and showcase a local rock band- the sequence was finished a long time ago, but we only had verbal permission to use the band's song. (I would like it in writing before I submit it to any distributors.)

Recent efforts to contact the band have proven fruitless, so I'm not waiting for them- my producer has already contacted another band who would love the publicity, and as soon as I get my hands on a contract and one of their CDs, I'll re-cut the sequence to match the song, put the band's name in the credits, and that should make things ready for exporting a screener copy!

It may be hard to believe, but there is actually a fair amount of humor in it- it won't be a pure frightfest. (Picture Rob Reiner directing The Exorcist and that should be about right.)

I'm aiming for a DVD distribution deal, so you won't be able to see this on the 'net- but you WILL be able to rent it/buy a copy (hopefully) somewhere along the line! Smiley (Not to mention that the run time is close to a full two hours- that'd be a chore to sit through on YouTube!)

You have a composer?

I had to switch composers after the first one had scheduling conflicts, but the composer who completed the job is Adrian Ellis.

Here's his site:

www.adrianelliscomposer.com

He's very professional, and understands the needs of filmmakers- He also agreed that he would get paid for his work after we sell the movie, which was a big help to us. (All the actors involved also have a similar agreement as well, although I'm sure many of them would have worked for free just for the chance to be in a feature, even a shoestring-budget one like mine.)

His score for The Uninvited has the whimsy of Danny Elfman at times, and a haunting quality which also echoes Ennio Morricone. I'm quite pleased with his work!

There- I think I answered all the questions! Smiley

I'm working on a screener copy & a press kit to send to potential distributors; once this is done, I'll be crossing my fingers and waiting to see what happens!

Although this film does look great, the trailers lack something. I personally think they are a little boring to watch, i'm hardly a professional but i would say just liven them up a little.

Good luck.

The average attention span is about 7 minutes.

Each trailer is less than 60 seconds.

Good luck to you, too.
