Sounds great, any idea when it's going to be released on DVD?

I'm very happy for you finally getting it finished, must have been really stressful waiting this long!

Been a long time coming. Glad to see you're getting some exposure. Looks like a really cool theater to release it in.

Thanks for the support guys! Smiley

It's far from over, though. We still need to find a distributor, so there's another different battle to be won here. Not to mention that Dreamworks just changed a title of an upcoming movie from "A Tale of Two Sisters" to "The Uninvited" (which makes about half a dozen movies with that name now, including mine) rolleyes

I have only one gripe with the theater- they tend to show very old movies, so their sound system is set up for stereo only- and The Uninvited happens to be mixed for 5.1 surround. Oh, well...

Earlier we did a test in the theater to get the projection right and watched the first few minutes. The feeling was intoxicating- seeing your own work up on a giant screen, with the smell of popcorn in the air and the bottom of your shoes sticky from spilled soda reminded me why I got into this in the first place... (sigh)

I believe most of us will be making announcements like this over the coming years. We just have to stick with it and be persistent. Smiley

I've got a feeling the 'The Uninvited' that hollywood has made will go straight to DVD, if it doesn't I'll probably check it out the pictures  or obtain a dvd when released.

Hey Poot Bort, would you be making your film available for digital download for a set price?

Just so UK people can get a hold of the film, or unless you can get a distributer to go into Europe aswell as US Smiley

I read the review on that federer site, seems like a decent flick Smiley

We could probably campaign on the internet to get Dreamworks to change it.

I reckon we'd have better luck trying to change the direction of a tornado by farting at it. cheesy

I know some people who could give that tornado a run for it's money...

Just an update for the 2 or 3 people who've been following this one:

The Uninvited just won two awards from the the IndieFest.com! The movie has picked up two "Awards of Merit" for both "Best Feature" and "Best Leading Actor." (in this case, Nicole Wiesner for her work as Allison Pettyjohn)

The Award of Merit seems to be the bronze medal in this festival.

http://www.theindiefest.com/Merit.aspx
(look under the "J" section)

The other lead actor, the two supporting actors and the composer (Kevin Oestenstad, DJ Pollard, Keith Stoneking and Adrian Ellis, respectively) were also submitted for consideration, but unfortunately, they didn't win.  Sad

Oddly enough, I didn't submit the movie for "Best Picture" but it won anyway. I'm not going to argue.

The movie is now eligible for a distribution package (this does NOT guarantee distribution, this is simply a strong recommendation from a trusted source) which costs a bundle ($500 minimum for 10 distributors to receive screeners to look over.)

I'm emptying my piggy bank.

Congratulations!

Hope all goes well with the distributers, I managed to watch the Hollywood 'The Uninvited' and thought it was an actually good movie with a great twist at the end, though I'm sure you'rs is completely different; what are your thoughts on the Hollywood version, did you like it?

The uninvited title they used is kind of a double meaning to the story in my opinion, makes you think the uninvited is someone in particular but the truth is revealed at the end, where as yours I'm sure has alot more meaning to the title.. Still waiting for you to make it available to public cause I wanna download (for a fee) and watch it Smiley

I think part of the problem is people will turn up to do it once for the experience, when they have its a case of "been there, done that, got the t-shirt, AND been in the movie" Maybe posher sandwiches on days 3 and 4?

Where can we watch the film by the way?
Any updates?

Actually, this would be a good time for an update- over this summer, we submitted the film to several distributors (thanks to www.theindiefest.com) and had to wait several months before any of them replied. The way it was explained to me, is that distributors are NOTORIOUSLY unavailable, so you have to walk the line in dropping them the occasional e-mail or phone call, without overdoing it.

Anyway, so far we've had four separate distributors contact us for more information. Some of them even submitted proposals, which we looked over, made some changes and submitted back. So far, we're still waiting on three of them. Again, I was told that even when distributors want your rmovie, they will make you wait.

We're not going with the fourth distributor's offer, because they want US to give them money to help distribute it. While this is somewhat common (the filmmaker helps offset the cost and pulls in a bit more on the back end) it gives the impression (to me, anyway) that the distributor doesn't have confidence in the product- they wanted $7,500 from us!!! shocked

So I guess the bottom line so far is that things are moving along towards the movie getting distribution, but we're still waiting as to WHO is going to sign the deal. When that happens, I'll be able to give a more concrete answer as far as when everyone can see it.

Just for anyone who's interested, I should mention that getting a lawyer who specializes in the entertainment industry in a MUST! Or, at least be fully able to read a contract and understand what's in the fine print. Otherwise, you will screw yourself in your deal. (Lawyers cost a bundle, by the way.)
