HOLY SHIT, I'M ALIVE!!!  Yes, it's been a long time since I treaded through the BraxtanFilm boards.  Nice to see everything remains lively here.  Just thought I'd drop everyone a line.  I'm casting a very small, very short film now.  It's four roles, and one is already cast.  Kill Or Be Killed is a revamped script from last year about two hitmen sent to do the same job alone, and come at odds when they learn that there is no target but each other.  Glenn Handzlik, who's treaded with me through two failed short film attempts, reprises his role from "Vengeance" as Lucas Blackmore.  I intend to make my casting choices my the end of this month, and we should be shooting over two days & nights in the first or second weekend of August.  I would imagine the short being completed in September.  I won't throwany promotional materials out until a cast is in place.  I did so much promotional work on Vengeance but it now will never be completed (only possibly remade in a few years).  So, I'm gonna be more reserved this time through, not jumping the gun.  But as I'm saying to everyone - four roles, four scenes, two days/nights of shooting.  About as simple as I could make it.  Beign heavily influenced by Michael Mann (and certainly will be again once Miami Viceis released next weekend), this will definitely speak much to his style.  Maybe I'll get some John Carpenter style in there, too, but that's probably just me wanting to throw his name out there.

RavensFilm Productions now also has a MySpace site - http://www.myspace.com/ravensfilm

Work on the website has begun.  Should debut after the first of August, maybe a little later.

Casting's been extended.  I didn't really get anyone that blew me away, and so, needed to dip into the casting pool again.  Website's still being worked on.  I've also started scripting two other shorts in the crime drama genre for 2007 shoots.  Things are picking up once again.

I will, Hank.  Trust me, it will.  It's much less complicated than VENGEANCE, it's all just a matter of timing on this one.

I'm not so sure now.  I've had about 20 actors submit their materials for this project, and FIVE have auditioned.  Of the five, three of them are good, but not good enough for what I need.  The longer casting goes, the less likely it will be that we can shoot this where I intend to shoot it.  The problem is, I don't know when said location will be available because I can't even get my friend Jason, my sole pipeline to the guy who actually lives in the house, to call me back (been leaving messages all week long).  I just got back from an audition session no one showed up to because my friend forced me to schedule this session less than 24 hours in advance because he couldn't pick up the phone.  I know you've seen me go off like this before, but I'm trapped.  If I keep going with casting for week after week, I will eventually lose my opportunity to shoot at said location (if such an opportunity still exists), but if I just go ahead and cast whomever, this short won't be nearly as good as it should be.  So, I don't intend to cancel anything, but until I actually get someone to pick up a phone (either my friend or any other actors) I'm really spiralling through a black abyss.  I'm left to the point where I don't know what to do.  I'm lost, and I don't want to be.  I took a whole damn year off from making any of my own films so that I could come back in fresh.  Now, I can't even get a cast together.  I don't know how all these other small-time filmmakers cast so many projects per year with such ease and great results.  It baffles me completely because it's never been easy for me, I despise the casting process.
