If Daftkid decides not to bother, it would certainly make his opening statement in this thread heavily ironic.

Many say "I'm gonna make a GB fan film LOLOLOLLO! it be beterr than fvsGBB haHA!!", many say that they will make a GB fan film but it falls through.

In any case, I'm hoping for the third installment of his "Love in Chinatown" trilogy, as the first two shorts were stellar pieces of filmmaking.

He bitches to the studios.

he isn't very creative about it.

That's a shame- I envisioned him spotting a Star Trek fan film in production, and kicking down the door. He announces that the film is going to suck, so he's putting an end to it and commences smashing all the props and equipment. They try to stop him, but the Vulcan neck pinch has no basis in reality. However, his counterattack- the Earthling nuts kick- works perfectly and he leaves a half-dozen Trekkies in ill-fitting Starfleet uniforms all curled up in the fetal position, holding what they wrongly perceive to be their uteruses and groaning about how they got whacked right in the photon torpedoes.   cheesy

I make sure there's no new fan films in production.

What happens when you find one in production? Do you stop 'em cold, Terminator style?  Wink

I know no one comes around anymore, but it's still worth posting, just in case- The Uninvited FINALLY made it to IMDb! Cool

Here's a pic of Bill Murray wearing the Ghostbusters uniform at the Scream Awards:

Not much good if you don't speak Polish! Wink

A BIG congratulations- getting a script you wrote turned into an existing movie is an accomplishment not many can claim. Cool Will it be released in the States with English subtitles?
7  BraxtanFILM forum! / Your Indie Films / Re: "The Rise Of Venom" on: June 08, 2010, 05:51:54 PM
Not really. Just more motivation.

I gotta ask though, when you Swede a film, is that a parody or a fan film? Both?

I guess if you're going for laughs, it's a parody. If you're being serious, well... considering what "Swede-ing" is, it's going to get laughs, although unintentionally. So I guess it's still parody.

You know what? I'm the wrong person to ask!

Relax fellas, it’s not a contest. I love Hank’s Ghostbusters films and know others do too. His work is an inspiration to us all!

Director of Ghostbusters SLC

You have thick skin- I admire that. Karma's coming your way.   Cool

I really really tried to watch it, but couldn't get through the first 3 minutes. I think a tripod would be a good investment.

Damn straight.

I also couldn't finish it- I gave them 7:15 of my time to impress and/or entertain me and they did not. ShadowSky's post pretty much says what I was thinking, but I can sum it up in even fewer words: Stale, uninspired and certainly not funny.

I suppose yes, credit could be given to them for what they've accomplished, but it would be like winning a medal in the Special Olympics.

I promise I am working on something. (As early as Thursday)

But I'm afraid of jinxing it.

Go for it- and don't officially announce anything until shooting is done, at least. Smiley

Imagine how long of a list you could make from the films never finished on the 'Indie Films' board...

ROTFLMFAO!!!

Here's an interesting topic: A list of 10 fan films that will never be completed (or might be down the road, but chances are grim)

One film's director is in prison for murder. Scratch that one off, unless they allow fan films on Death Row.
15  BraxtanFILM forum! / Your Indie Films / Re: "Clear"- Psychological Thriller (Official Website Up) on: March 20, 2010, 12:35:52 PM
June:
-Clear goes for sale on the site (mostly likely a digital copy that should be cheap).

2010 is the year to tie all loose ends since I want to focus solely on my thesis film come this fall!

If I can burn that digital copy to a DVD so I can watch it on my home theater, count me in! (I don't like to watch movies on a computer.)  I'll check the site for updates in June.

I hope you'll post a thread regarding your thesis film as well.
Cool

Hey, is "Clear" still available for purchase?

So I'm assuming its going bad?  Hope I get to see this at some point

Actually, the opposite (more or less)- we finalized a contract about a week ago with York Entertainment and currently we're filling out paperwork and various legal forms. The deal is about the best we're going to get (we walked away from two others, which would have put us in debt) and as soon as we finish with the deliverables, it's out of our hands.

As far as I can tell, as soon as they are satisfied with everything, they begin their own process and that takes about two months- so I expect this to be available around the end of May, roughly. I'm not sure what form it's going to take- they wanted a pan & scan digital copy, and the movie was shot for widescreen TVs! (They also wanted a stereo-only version, and the movie is encoded in 5.1 surround sound!)

That brings me to another few points worth mentioning...

- Distributors are interested in getting the product out to as wide an audience as possible, so it's a good idea to edit your movie with the dialogue track completely separate. Keep your music and sound effects apart from the dialogue, so when the distributor wants to dub it in a foreign language, you've made the process much easier!

- Also, we had to agree to give the distributor the right to alter the movie. At first we weren't thrilled, but it was explained that some countries might object to various scenes, so a censored product is better than no product. (My producer has spoken to other independent filmmakers and apparently this is standard procedure.) I wonder what they'll cut- the only thing objectionable is a sex scene and it's pretty integral to the story.

So I guess the bottom line is that the wait is almost over!

(I hope these things will be of some use to the rest of you!)

I thought I'd post some interesting info I've gained from dealing with distributors these past 6 months, as some of you will be reaching this stage too.

- Get a lawyer/make friends with one/become one - a distributor is going to give you an offer, and you damn well better know how to read it! The main concern here is that since distributors are out to make money, they will do it any way possible- including charging YOU for possible incurred costs. That offer they'll be handing you migh tbe filled with "lawyerspeak", so be prepared!

(If necessary, WALK AWAY from any deal which sounds ALL bad. True, you'll probably get a little screwed on your first deal, but try not to get totally screwed. One example is any contract that wants rights to your movie in perpetuity. That's a bad deal!)

- Get a digital camera (if you don't already have one) and take pictures while you are shooting your movie. Distributors like "stills" in high quality from your movie depicting scenes and characters in full costume. Do NOT just grab screen-shots. Also, don't bother with "behind-the-scenes" stuff, unless it is for your own use.

(By the way, "Key Art" is basically the main art that advertises your movie. The poster or DVD jacket is a perfect example of key art.)

That's the first two points that come to mind. If I think of anything else of importance, I'll post it here as well.

It actually is the same door, however, the version that's on YouTube for some reason didn't apply color correction to that particular clip, so the lighting looks different than the rest of the film. That, plus it admittedly is an awkward cut, makes the scene a bit off-putting. But I've fixed that as much as I can for the version that'll be screening in Fargo.Thank you!

Now I see where I made the error- the screen door is closed, and in the next shot it's open- I was looking at the wood door. My bad.

Oh, and on another note I forgot to mention, the phrase "routine snake removal" is hilarious!
