your fx look better than the gb1 & 2 fx.

that's not hard considering those movies are about 20 years old.

I promise once this movie is finished and Ryan and I show how to create the beams and other various effects for this film, a lot of Fans looking to recreate our version of the beams will be turned off by how painfully long the process is. A four second shot will usually take 8-10 hours and thats if you go mistake free on a simple shot with only ONE ghostbuster. Add in a ghost and a second ghosbuster and your easily looking at 25-30 hours.
So yeah its not so much hard as it is time consuming, like it was for the original FX teams.
Still don't believe me? Ask Hank how long it took him to create his effects and #s wont be far off.

Ok, looks like this thread got a little side tracked. What was the original subject?

We'll Notorious, NET and GROSS are too completely different meanings in the finacial world. Nice website by the way. "we take our football websites very seriously."
46  BraxtanFILM forum! / "RETURN OF THE GHOSTBUSTERS" / Re: Cast and Crew on: July 21, 2006, 03:46:14 PM
If I were a millionaire I wouldnt be doing this movie because it would already be done thanks to all the software and plugins I dont currently have!
Anyways Notorious, if you havent noticed Ryan and I bullshit all the time. Its obvious Ryan doesnt have a job based on how many posts I've done about how poor he is. Now if we were making enough money to not go to work, well Ryan wouldnt be poor now would he?

Just asked, not gonna recreate it or something.

Well I suppose if anyone ever reveals the secret it should be Ryan since he was the genious to figure out the crazy method. I'd say ask him, but it took me a years worth of food stamps and toilet paper for him to explain it to me. So unless you have some massive stockpile of sugar packets or canned foods, he cant be bought!
BTW if you do happen to have a stockpile - He likes all the stuff grade schoolers moms drop off at food drives , you know the stuff normal people buy and let it sit for a few years before donating since they will never eat it. I guess he grew up on that stuff?

Maybe if Hank makes a visual effects documentary all can be revieled, but until this movie is released, no special effects will be tutorialized, sorry. Plus like Ryan said, its all in the wrist, and he has a lot of practice!

Thanks Sandman, its nice to know Ryan and I can inspire in a positive way. Keep at it in school and even more importantly, devote as much time at home towards it. I just graduated college 2 months ago and despite 3 straight years (summer classes blow btw) I honestly wouldnt be half as good if I hadn't worked every chance I got just modeling and animating - My ex-girlfriend and current girlfriend can confirm that. I'm sure Ryans Girlfriend would have something to say about his devotion, or lack of, depending on your perspective.
But I saw your a 3DS Max user, so if you ever got a question, or feel like punching your monitor, hit me up on MSN, I'd be happy to help.

Just so everyone knows, Ryans fuzzy smiley face avatar is actually the ghost the GBs vs at the end. He may look nice, but we all thought the same thing about StayPuft didnt we?

Wow this looks really great. I am wondering will there also be a cameo by slimer?
I have send some money for the effects and I will look if I can send a little more. Can't wait to see this movie.

Keep up the good work guys,

Best regards,

Robert

Thanks for the support Robert!
I know this may be a little sad for you, but Slimer got busted in Freddy vs The GBs, so hes already in the containment unit. Although, he always manages to make his way out so you never know?
Kinda off subject, but I noticed a lot of talk about a Denver GB Comic, maybe someone could do it based on Slimer escaping at some point. Then Ryan and I would be forced to put him in this film!

...HOLY...FUCK!

I REALLY love the design for the skeleton based ghost!  Gives a Tim Burton-que vibe.

Who designed it?  Was it a concept by Hank or did you come up with the concept?

I designed it, modeled it, textured it, rigged it, all that fun stuff. Thanks for the approval! 4.5 million polys later someone likes him!!!

So as special effects shots finally start to come together and seconds become minutes of viewable footage Ryan and I wanted to thank those who have donated and offered support. Every cent makes a huge difference with us. I know both of us have purchased bigger Hard Drives just to keep everything as uncompressed as possible to keep Hanks original footage crisp with our effects. Plus Ryan is poor, so every cent you send him really just pays his electricity so he can keep working. Don’t ask me what he eats though, I think he steals condiment packets and sucks the dust out of his computer for nutrition? It’s a sad story really…
I know a lot of you have been eager to see some stuff we have been working on, and now you finally get a small glimpse! Hopefully people wont be disappointed.
So if anyone has been interested in the effects or you just feel like yelling at Ryan or I, feel free.

So I got ahold of max 8 and I wanted to test out the hair system that was added. Figured you guys might get a kick out of this.

Its one of those "Where are they now?" It turns out Slimer joined up with an 80's hair band, and despite it being 2005, hes not ready to let go of the past.

Or save the file as an RPF or RLA sequence, then import it into After Effects or Combustion and you'll already have the alphas done.

Yeah, I'm trying to get it random, but in a controlled way if you know what I mean. Tts certainly keeping me occupied with different ideas.

The blue part is a spiral, and as it spins towards the end it lookes like its on top, but if you change perspective, that changes.
Take this for example...
From a side veiw it looks like this
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But the perspective was making it look like this
_0_0_0_0_0_0_0
So if the camera pans or the stream changes angle, it wouldnt look like a line with circles anymore... Well it would depending on the new perspective.
Anyways, Watch the scene when Ray first shoots at slimer and freeze frame. You will notice that its like mine, just tighter circles, but amongst the chaos and speed of the shot you really cant tell.
But tell me what you think of this... I slowed down the jerkyness of the circles so they are smoother, and I also added the first blue stream on top of that, so its a mix between the 2.
Everytime I finish one version, a better idea pops in my head. I think this as close as it comes before you just have to hand paint it like the original FX team did.
Hope you like it.
