Lots of masking each with different levels adjustments to give off depth and shadowing.

I'd love to do a Half Life film...with a 100 million dollar budget.

Half Life can only be done in a single cut. It has to be first person and Gordan can never speak! It could also be a sweet Universal Studios ride, like 2 hours to get all the way through!
3  BraxtanFILM forum! / "RETURN OF THE GHOSTBUSTERS" / Re: NEW MEXICO PREMIERE OF RETURN OF THE GHOSTBUSTERS!!! on: December 10, 2007, 12:48:11 PM
I'll go if only someone asks "What horrible misfortunes brought you to New Mexico?" And I'll answer "ROTGB!!!" Truth is I actually made a promise to myself to never go back into a highschool again. Its been a few years and I'm going strong!
4  BraxtanFILM forum! / "RETURN OF THE GHOSTBUSTERS" / Re: Rate ROTGB on: December 10, 2007, 12:39:52 PM
Now two people gave it a one what the hell

Hank taught me if you give the option for a bad rating, people (Like Hank and Scott) will always pick it. I gave the movie 4/5 because Hank trimmed down some of my FX.

Seriously Hank, was 21 seconds way to long to show Ammit just chilling there motionless, then all of the sudden realize it was time to act? It gave it a nice stage performance of when someone forgets its their turn to speak!

Well, we haven't received any death threats yet.

Yet... But don't worry Hank, we'll get some soon enough.

Happy Birthday, Weiss. I'll have to meet up with you soon and buy you a beer for once!

I took it down because you forgot to put the visual FX crew in.

LOL

Hank is right--this movie was made for under $3000--if you divide that by the number of months it was in production that equals about the same as the average monthly phone bill. The higher-ups at the Colorado Film school still claim that since it is a fan film it is a waste of money--but there are no feature films coming out of this school, and plenty of student SHORT films with double and triple the budget of what we spent. I seriously doubt any of those shorts will have the exposure we are gaining from ROTGB. What I learned most from making this movie is the value of networking. This movie would not have been possible if Hank hadn't worked his charm and befriended as many people as he has.

He promised me Steak & Lobster if I did 70 VFX shots. I think I did more than that, but I'm still waiting for my food...

Behind the Scene Documentry? Thos are my favorite!

One is in the works... Or Hank played a cruel joke and wasted my Saturday morning filming a VFX documentary!
11  BraxtanFILM forum! / "RETURN OF THE GHOSTBUSTERS" / Re: OFFICIAL RELEASE THREAD! on: November 01, 2007, 11:25:00 AM
Hell no I wouldn't make a TV series--not if the Sci Fi Channel had anything to do with it!

Oh come on Hank, almost dieing of stress every night was fun!
12  BraxtanFILM forum! / "RETURN OF THE GHOSTBUSTERS" / Re: OFFICIAL RELEASE THREAD! on: October 31, 2007, 10:40:55 PM
*Possible spoilers ahead*

Particular Things I liked:

The RC Trap.
Pavel Karnov.
Pavel's reaction to being called a commie in the bar. (Loved the shot of the chair being obliterated by the man).
The Indie Film Adventure reference.
"Don't take that the wrong way, you know you're not very good-looking."
Klaus Constantin.
Tanner Cole's return.

Disliked:

All of Neil's lines in the bar. (I have a pet peev about people saying "Beverage").
Pavel not kicking as much ass in the bar as I thought he could; to quote a friend "I feel confident in fighting any kind of martial arts syle...except Russian, pain doesn't seem to register to them".
Chuck-E-Cheese Milfs.
Angry Video Game Nerd (way to over act bub).
The Neutrino pack ending, we guessed that way too early on.

-edit-
But that's just me being picky. Again I love watching this film, and I think it's fantastic in it's whole.

Who could hate the Angry Video Game Nerd? He is gonna make a buffalo take a diarrhea dump in your ear if you don’t behave!

people who can't watch it, no problem. It sucks anyway.

just kidding. It was good. Not the best, some of the acting was lousy and the bad guy couldn't convince me. Sometimes the pacing seemed a little weird, especially at the end, but overall that was okay.

The intro was cool, but after that it got boring till 30 minutes in. The production value is pretty high though, I'll give you that.

Well since Notorious didn't mention the Visual FX, I should take that as a positive? However curiosity will always consume me...

VFX were very good in some parts, and in some parts pretty obvious (espeically where Weiss takes puts out the fire and the sparks show, and the smoke thats superimposed a few times) but overall, they were very good.

Interesting.

shut up, it hurts for me to say positive stuff.

LOL, thats what makes it so interesting. You not destroying every shot in the film is a positive in my book!

Getting better.

I'll give you a hint, though.  There's no "proton stream" effect setting in After Effects.  If you want the beam to jump around like you see in the movies, you're going to have to animate it by hand.

Hank is partially right, at first every shot was 100% hand animated, however when you watch the ending of the movie, those were done differently saving hours, but unfortunitly every frame was still hand tweaked. But to give you an idea, it used to take roughly 1 hour for 1 second, towards the end it was probably 15 minutes per second.

Your stream is looking great, however the lightning is looking a little rough.

Calm down Daftkid! Isnt it ironic how someone always dies right when you have sweet plans. When I die, I dont want a funeral... No Sense in wasting other peoples lives when I can't even be around to laugh at them for coming to my stupid funeral anyways.
18  BraxtanFILM forum! / "RETURN OF THE GHOSTBUSTERS" / Re: Return of the Ghostbusters Premiere Review Thread (Non-Spoiler) on: October 27, 2007, 06:13:59 PM
DaftKid,
I went to the premiere obviously, so I'll clue you into how it went. We showed up, we sat down, we watched it, we had a Q&A, we partied, we went to sleep. That should answer all your questions until Oct. 31st!
19  BraxtanFILM forum! / "RETURN OF THE GHOSTBUSTERS" / Re: Who else is traveling from afar for the premiere? on: October 25, 2007, 07:52:45 AM
Turns out Daftkid is to young to fly by himself and his Dad is on parole so no one could sit with him on the plane...

You all suck!

Except highscorekid of course.
